Tioga woman charged with food stamps fraud
WELLSBORO - Shanna L. Sabol, 35, of 20 Deer Lane, Lot 29, Tioga, recently was charged by borough police for fraudulently obtaining $2,440 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits beginning May 8, 2012. Sabol allegedly failed to report that Scott C. Neill was living with her beginning Feb. 1, 2012, and had wages from Ward Manufacturing. She was issued a summons to appear before Judge Robert Repard for a May 14 preliminary hearing.
Man allegedly stole from brother
WELLSBORO - Chad L. Woelfel, 21, of 985 Ritz Road, Mansfield, was charged by borough police for the unauthorized use of his brother Shane M. Shay's bank account at First Citizen's National Bank on East Avenue April 12. Woelfel allegedly removed $100 from Shay's bank account without his knowledge or permission. Woelfel also is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was issued a summons to appear before Judge Robert Repard for a May 21 preliminary hearing.
Man accused of theft
MANSFIELD - Jason P. Gile, 28, of 19 Burton Hill Road, Wellsboro, recently was charged with retail theft by state troopers.
Gile and a companion allegedly were seen pushing 40-inch LED TVs valued at $358 out of Walmart in shopping carts without paying for them. Giles allegedly fled on foot but was identified using security footage by Trooper Daniel Denucci, who allegedly interacted with the defendant recently.
Giles was contacted by police but declined to provide a statement about the incident. He was issued a summons to appear at a June 5 preliminary hearing before Judge James Carlson.
Man charged with sale of alcohol to a minor
MANSFIELD - William H. Martin, 44, of 59 Triple D Lane, Lot 15, Covington, was charged with selling alcohol to a minor by borough police on March 23.
Martin allegedly purchased a six-pack of Budweiser cans, two 40-ounce glass bottles of Budweiser and a purple 4Loco alcoholic beverage for a minor. Martin was issued a summons to appear at a May 22 preliminary hearing before Judge James Carlson.
Woman charged with assault, harassment
MANSFIELD - Lauren E. Morse, 19, of 38 Jackson St., Wellsboro, was charged with simple assault and harassment by state troopers following an incident at Triple D Trailer Park on April 23.
The victim, Donna Marie Miller, alleged that she became involved in a physical altercation with Morse following a disagreement regarding the use of Morse's cell phone. The victim alleged that Morse grabbed her from behind and placed her in a headlock while she was attempting to go back inside her residence.
The victim allegedly fell down, broke her left femur and was transported to Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro.
Morse alleges that Miller struck her twice on the face with a portable phone during the altercation.
Morse was issued a summons to appear before Judge James Carlson at a May 29 preliminary hearing.
