Ella Mae Burleigh, 89, of Montoursville, and formerly of Owego, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at ManorCare South.
Born on Dec. 3, 1923, on Ghent Hill, Sheshequin, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Margaret (Shaffer) Campbell. Ella Mae was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Lee D. Burleigh, and her six siblings.
Ella Mae is survived by her five children, Donald (Joan), Duane (Cathie) and Sam (Beth), Sharon and Leanne (Allen Wheeland); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ella Mae was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was well known for her sticky buns and great home cooking. Ella Mae was a graduate of Ulster High School. She was a member of Montoursville Presbyterian Church, a leader and active member in the Girl Scouts and co-founder of the Waterville, N.Y., Emergency Squad.
Visitation will be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Bradford County Memorial Park, Rte. 6, Burlington, Pa., at 1:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ella Mae's name may be made to Harrisonburg Salvation Army, 185 Ashby Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
