'Starting a small business' workshop at LHU
LOCK HAVEN - The Small Business Development Center of Lock Haven University will be holding a "First Step for Starting a Small Business" workshop on Friday at the LHU Small Business Development Center, 301 W. Church St.
The workshop will help aspiring entrepreneurs begin the process of successful business ownership including evaluating business ideas, developing a business plan and exploring financing options. The discussion leaders for the workshop are the members of the SBDC staff.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until noon.
The presenters will cover topics every hopeful business owner should know - the basics of establishing a business idea, feasibility, marketing research and strategies, how to discover which regulations and licensing would apply to your business and how to create your business plan to obtain financing and more.

Post W.T.P.A. to hold luncheon meeting
Post W, Williamsport, Travelers Protective Association of America, will hold its monthly meeting at noon Wednesday, at Hoss's Steak and Sea House, 1954 E. Third St.
Volunteers are needed to make AYSO run smoothly and give children the best soccer experience. No previous soccer experience is required.

Muncy Garden Club to hold meeting
MUNCY - The Muncy Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday at the St James Parish Hall, 215 South Main St.
For the meeting of the year we will be viewing a video of the Philadelphia Flower Show. Refreshments will be served.
Anyone interested in joining the Muncy Garden Club is encouraged to attend.
Church to hold lunch for retirees
Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St., will serve a free lunch for retirees at noon on Friday.
All retirees are welcome. Free will donations will be accepted and blood pressure screenings will be provided.
Jersey Shore Garden Club to host program
MIFFLINBURG - The Jersey Shore Garden Club will have their first program of 2013 at noon Thursday.
It will be held at the Country Farm and Home Garden Center and will include a luncheon catered by the Carriage Corner restaurant.
The program "Color Your World" will be presented by Keith Phelps, owner of the garden center.
He has the greenhouse decorated for spring. The Susquehanna Garden Club also will be present.
