Alexandra Roles
Alexandra Roles, daughter of Mark and Shelby Akers, South Williamsport, and Wayne and Becky Swinehart, South Williamsport, has been named South Williamsport Area High School Student of the Month for January.
She has been actively involved in the National Honor Society (10-12) currently serving as Treasurer. She also participates in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (11), yearbook (12), SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions 10-11), Key Club (9-10), cheerleading (11-12), track (11), and softball (9-10).
Roles also has been elected president for the class of 2013 (10-12). She donates her time as a tutor, Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader and is actively involved in her Youth Group.
Roles also is a member of the faculty selected Teen Contact group, helping younger students with various needs such as tutoring and peer mediation.
She was a member of the Homecoming Court and recently was selected to represent South Williamsport in the Laurel Festival Pageant.
After graduation, Roles plans to attend Shippensburg University and major in elementary education.
Warrior Run Middle School
Warrior Run Middle School announced the Student of the Month recipients for January.
The recipients are chosen by a vote of the middle school faculty and the award is given to the member of each class that have the following qualifications; courteousness, eager to learn and participate in class, at least a C average, good school citizen, well-rounded individual and shows leadership potential.
The award winners for the month of January are:
Grade 5 Cassandra Valiquette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Valiquette.
Grade 6 Amber Pentycofe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Pentycofe Jr.
Grade 7 Gage Anzulavich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Anzulavich.
Grade 8 Joshua Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Adams.
Wade Barren
Wade Barren, a business administration major from Watsontown was named student of the month for September at Newport Business Institute. He was honored at the Feb. 7 Williamsport City Hall Council meeting.
A graduate of Columbia-Montour Vocational Technical School, Barren recently was awarded an associate degree in specialized business, business administration from NBI. He is working in his field in Danville.
According to his nominator, "Wade's leadership abilities were evident as he took an active role in the Business Administration Student Group as its President. An active networker and avid outdoorsman, Wade always tried to make classroom connections to the business world and the environment."

Heather Howell
Heather Howell, a medical administrative assistant major and Loyalsock Township High School graduate from Williamsport, was named Student of the Month for October at Newport Business Institute. She was honored at the Feb. 7 Williamsport City Hall Council meeting.
An officer in the Medical Student Association, Howell is pursuing an internship, and graduated in February with an associate degree in specialized business, medical administrative assistant.
"Heather's delightful and cheerful attitude along with her solid work ethic made her a model student for others to emulate," according to her nominator.

Gina Turner
Turner, a business administration major from Williamsport was named Student of the Month for November at Newport Business Institute. She was honored at the Feb. 7 Williamsport City Hall Council meeting.
Turner, who has completed an associate of science degree from Penn State University, anticipates graduation in the fall. Gina revived a recycling program while at Newport.
"A tireless competitor in the classroom and an effective leader as president of the Business Administration Student Group, Gina will be an asset to any firm" her nominator noted.
