Joseph F. Eiswerth, 91, a resident of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at The Gatehouse, on March 1, 2013.
Joe was born in East Palestine, Ohio, on Sept. 18, 1921, the son of Edward C. and Catherine Couche Eiswerth.
He was a partner in Eiswerth, Reeder & Shaw Concrete Contactors.
Joe was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 366 and a fourth degree member of the Father Rechsteiner Assembly; he served as past Faithful Navigator and as a member of the Honor Guard. Joe was a World War II Navy veteran serving as an Aviation Machinist Mate.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Evelyn M. Eck; seven children, twins Wayne J. Eiswerth, Elaine M. (Keith) Harvey, both of Williamsport, James E. (Barbara) Eiswerth of West Chester, Ohio, Bernard A. (Elizabeth) Eiswerth of Montgomery, Ala., Gary F. (Wendy) Eiswerth of Linden, Marilyn J. (Michael) Leonard of State College, Delores K. Eiswerth of Williamsport; grandchildren, Michael (Dawn) Eiswerth, Yvonne (Brandon) Hall, Edward J. Eiswerth, Christina M. (Mike) Lyons, Sean (Katherine) Leonard, Marissa (Royal) Smith, Patrick J. Eiswerth; and five great-grandchildren, Bryan, Jeffrey, Nichole, Rory and Aidan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, with his pastor, Msgr. Stephen D. McGough officiating, followed by burial at St. Boniface Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Joe's name may be made to St. Boniface Church or to the Msgr. Eugene J. Clark Endowment Fund c/o the church.
