Township awards contracts for road maintenance work

Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:

County

Williamsport Area Transportation Study Coordinating Committee members approved its fiscal year 2013-14 unified planning work program, long-range transportation plan outline, bylaws and 2011 River Valley Transit performance final report. Voting in favor were Sandra Tosca, Mark Murawski, Bill Nichols, Ernie Larson, Liz Miele, Jeff Stover and Thomas Hart.

Municipal

Loyalsock Township supervisors voted to approve bids on road materials for 2013, including awarding a $708,328 contract to Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. for resurfacing, a $111,995 contract to Hammaker's for chipseal materials and $117,382 to Interstate Road for line painting. Voting in favor were John Bower, Virginia Eaton, Rick Wheeland, Jeff Rauff and Marc Sortman.

School district

The Loyalsock Township School Board voted 8-0 to accept a $32,000 donation from the Loyalsock Township supervisors to help the district's school resource officer program. Voting in favor were board member Edward Ade Jr., William Carlucci, Sheila Yates, Maureen Carey, David Hornberger, Christina Kiessling, John Raymond and Paul Young II. Board member Stephen Dewar was absent from the meeting.
