The Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St., will hold open auditions for its British comedy, "Cash on Delivery," at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25. Director Jason Moyer is looking for adults ages 20 to 65 to fill the cast of 10.
A con artist has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address. When welfare investigators show up, he enlists one of his real lodgers and his uncle to help him out of his mess. Fast-paced dialogue and action steer this comedy through loads of laughs, towards a surprising ending.
The characters include Eric, a somewhat-sophisticated executive and his "yuppy" wife; their upstairs, "bohemian" tenant and his highly dramatic girlfriend; Eric's outgoing uncle; a serious, low-level bureaucrat; a young, sweet social worker; a psychologist; an undertaker; and a hard-nosed, government supervisor.
The show will run in late April and early May and rehearsals will be 3 or 4 times weekly. Those interested in helping backstage or in other production areas should attend the auditions as well. For more information, visit ctlshows.com or call 327-1777.
