Susquehanna Health will hold the following events:
SMART Nutrition for Pregnancy class, 5 p.m. Thursday at Diabetes and Nutrition Center in Divine Providence Hospital - Learn how to choose the most nutrient-dense foods for you and your baby. Participants will learn pregnancy nutrition guidelines for carbohydrates, protein, calcium, folic acid, iron and more while creating meal and snack ideas to guide you through pregnancy. Individuals with specific nutrition needs are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a registered dietitian in addition to taking this class. A referral from a physician is required prior to taking the class. The fee is determined by insurance co-pay amount. All-inclusive blood screenings, 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27 - Low-cost blood screenings will be held at the Medical Plaza in Lock Haven, 610 High St. Participants must consult with a physician about what test(s) may be most beneficial for them. Cash, check or credit card payment is required at the time of service. Advance registration is required by calling 321-3210.
Blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen checks, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at The LifeCenter at Lycoming Mall. No appointment necessary.
Customized nutrition plans for healthy weight, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday - Meet with a health educator at The LifeCenter in the Lycoming Mall and receive an individualized report of the calories your body uses each day, your percent body fat and a sample daily menu of an eating plan that promotes healthy eating and a healthy weight. The plan is not appropriate for individuals with diabetes or other special dietary needs. Participants may have water, but no food or exercise is permitted for four hours prior to testing. Managing cholesterol, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at The LifeCenter - Learn about cholesterol, recommended levels, factors that cause high cholesterol and ways to manage it with lifestyle changes by scheduling a consult with a health educator. Percent body fat assessment, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday - Consult a health educator at The LifeCenter at the Lycoming Mall and have your body fat measured by bioelectric impedance. Electrodes are placed on your feet and hands to measure the resistance to the electrical signal as it travels through body fat and muscle. The signal cannot be felt. Participants may have water, but no food or exercise is permitted for four hours prior to testing. A fee applies. Call 877-883-4791 to schedule an appointment.
Gala to raise funds for diabetes program
LEWISBURG - Friday is the last day to reserve tickets for the Evangelical Gala, Evangelical Community Hospital's premier fundraising event, which will be held March 9 at Larison Hall, Bucknell University. It begins with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing.
Proceeds will support an effort to establish a comprehensive diabetes care program at Evangelical Community Hospital.
The Gala features silent and live auctions with prizes such as a stay at Loews Hotel in Annapolis, Md.; a six-night stay in Marco Island, Fla.; a power parachute ride; gift baskets; and fine jewelry.

Susquehanna Health plans 2nd Day of Dance
PENNSDALE - Susquehanna Health's Spirit of Women program will hold its second annual Day of Dance event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lycoming Mall.
Women who sign up for free Spirit of Women membership may attend the dance-filled day that focuses on women's heart health. The event includes fitness dance demonstrations in which attendees can participate, free health screenings, healthy cooking demonstration, presentation on heart arrhythmias in women, giveaways and prizes.
Attendees may participate in Zumba, piloxing, turbo kick and Walk Fit classes throughout the day, as well as health screenings including body mass index, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol test, foot screen and EKG.
A healthy cooking demonstration will be held inside The LifeCenter in the Bon-Ton/JC Penney wing at 11 a.m. Susquehanna Health electrophysiologist, Dr. Hanan Morcos, will present "Heart Arrythmias in Women" from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the community room.
