A homeless man caught last month allegedly trying to take in excess of $10,000 worth of steel from a Cascade Township property remains incarcerated in the Lycoming County Prison after waiving his preliminary hearing.
Bryan Nicholas Giacomi, 23, who had no address, was caught with steel he allegedly stole from Charles Rogers' garage and shed on Kellyburg Road on Jan. 11, state police said.
Seeing Giacomi fleeing the scene, a relative of Rogers pursued him for five miles until Giacomi's vehicle crashed into snowbank, where the alleged thief was taken into custody. A second man was with Giacomi, but he has not been identified.
Police allege Giacomi took part in another burglary at the same property days earlier.
Following his arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on two counts each of burglary and felony trespassing and one count each of theft and receiving stolen property, Giacomi was jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail.
