Susquehanna Health's Spirit of Women program will hold its second annual Day of Dance event Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lycoming Mall, Pennsdale.
Women who sign up for free Spirit of Women membership are eligible to attend the dance-filled day that focuses on women's heart health.
The event will include fitness dance demonstrations that attendees can participate in, free health screenings, healthy cooking demonstration, presentation on heart arrhythmias in women, give-a-ways and prizes.
"Day of Dance is a fun-filled and educational event that focuses on heart health in women," said Susan Browning, Spirit of Women program coordinator. "Day of dance is about learning new skills, or new information, that can improve a woman's life. Whether through a healthy cooking demonstration, participating in one of our many free health screenings or kicking up their heels at any of our exciting dance, or exercise, demonstrations this day helps women understand their personal risk factors while having fun."
Attendees will be able to participate in Zumba, Piloxing, Turbo Kick and Walk Fit classes, which will take place throughout the day, as well as health screenings including body mass index, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol test, foot screen and EKG.
A healthy cooking demonstration will be held inside The LifeCenter in the Bon-Ton and JCPenney wing at 11 a.m.
Susquehanna Health electrophysiologist, Dr. Hanan Morcos, will present Heart Arrythmias in Women from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the community room.
Select Lycoming mall stores will offer discounts to Spirit members.
Susquehanna Health launched its Spirit of Women membership program in October 2011.
Members receive free or discounted health screenings and classes, invitations to member's only events, ongoing health and wellness information and a loyalty card to give access to special offers from area businesses.
Spirit of Women's goal is to motivate and inspire women to make positive changes to lead their best, healthiest life.
The program wants to empower women to guide their own wellness journey while recognizing that women often are pulled in many directions and often to do not take time to care for themselves.
The event only is open to members who register, but anyone can become a member by visiting www.susquehanna women.org.
Members can register for the event online at www.susquehannawomen.org, or by phone at 888-720-8461.
