William Hugh Plank, 90, of Englewood, Fla., passed away on Feb. 8, 2013. Bill was born in Belleville, Pa., on July 26, 1922. He attended Belleville High School and had several jobs as a youth in Ohio prior to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Near the end of World War II, he married the former Dorothy Franc with whom he had three children: his sons, Dennis (Emily), Virginia Beach and Victor, Lancaster, Pa.; and daughter, Debbie (Ray) Hazleton, Pa. He attended (as known at the time) Williamsport Technical Institute and learned the sheet metal and drafting trade that led him into the heating and air conditioning business he would follow for the next 40 plus years. He resided in Williamsport, Pa., until the early 1990s.
He married the former Helen Stoppa in 1974. In the early 1990s, he and Helen headed for the warmer climes of Englewood, Fla.
Bill is survived by his wife, Helen; stepson, Bill Fagan, his children (above); and brothers, J. Donald Plank of Cocoa Beach, Samuel E. (Jake/Bud) Plank of Belleville, Pa., and Betty Stuter of Brooksville, Fla. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
