Announcement has been made of the engagement of Maria J. Mielnik, Hollidaysburg, and Brian L. Thaler, Altoona.
A June 22 wedding at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, is being planned.
Mielnik is the daughter of Lois and Raymond Mielnik, Holidaysburg. She graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 2006 and received a degree in dental hygiene and health policy and administration from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2010. She is employed by Mountain Family Dental, State College, as a dental hygienist.

Thaler is the son of Sherry David and Eric Thaler, Altoona. He graduated from Altoona Area High School in 2005 and received a degree in electrical engineering in nanofabrication from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2010.
He is employed by Strategic Polymers, State College, as a senior process technician.
