A city couple was routed from their home when a fire broke out at 831 Elmira St. about 1:40 p.m. today.
The couple got out safely as did a resident who was taking a shower in the other half of the double, city fire officials said.
The fire resulted in extensive damage to the 831 side of the two-and-a-half story property, which is located on the southwest corner of Elmira Street and Rural Avenue.

One window at the back of the house blew out moments after city police arrived on the scene.
Firefighters from Loyalsock Township, Old Lycoming Township and Montoursville assisted in putting out the fire, which was declared under control at 2:30 p.m.
