What is this nonsense about "American Democracy"?
No, our intended form of government is a confederacy, not a republic, not a democracy.
Each state is supposed to be sovereign, each independent, but united for national security and defense.
It's unbelievable how out of control we the people have allowed the national government to become.

What union provides no means to redress grievances, to divide peacefully if one of the parties becomes disconcerted and disillusioned, finding the union no longer desirable?
Marriage, which contains vows such as, "for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, until we are parted by death", provides a method of divorce for those who either didn't mean their vows or found it impossible to fulfill them.
The U.S. Constitution requires no vows, yet makes no provision for or against states rescinding their ratification of that document.
