'Labor and Delivery' class features OB unit tour
WELLSBORO - A free Expectant Parents class titled "Labor and Delivery," featuring a tour of the OB Unit, will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital board room.
Expectant parents will learn how to time contractions and when to come to the hospital, then tour the obstetrics unit, including the labor and delivery unit, newborn nursery and post-partum rooms.

The class is part of a free cycle of six classes addressing common questions and concerns of expecting parents. Participants may join at any time; walk-ins welcomed. For more information, call 723-0375.
Nursing exam scheduled
The practical nursing program at the Northern Tier Career Center will administer a pre-entrance exam at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday and Feb. 13.

WELLSBORO - A free bereavement support group will be held 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital; check for room location at front lobby.

Health fair planned for mental health consumers
WELLSBORO - The Tioga County Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill will hold an informational health fair for mental health consumers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the community room at the W.M. Tokishi Building on Nypum Drive.
Consumers must choose an appropriate health care plan before the February deadline. The event will help educate and assist those who need to make a decision.
Evangelical plans children's health fair
SELINSGROVE - Evangelical Community Hospital will hold the 24th annual Children's Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Susquehanna Valley Mall. The theme is "Clifford is Big on Healthy Kids," featuring Clifford the Big Red Dog.
The fair includes fun activities for parents and children focusing on key factors of good health, including eating right, exercising, taking part in health screenings and making good decisions about healthy living.
The day will feature puppet shows by Kingdom Kidz at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30, a performance from Downtown Dance at 11, Story Time with Drew and Ali from 94.1 WQKX at 12:15 p.m., and a fitness challenge at 1.
Children may bring a stuffed animal or doll for a check-up by Evangelical's obstetric and pediatric professionals. A free T-shirt will be given to children ages 2-10.
Parents can earn a $5 gift card for returning a child safety seat that has either been recalled, is more than six years old, has been involved in an accident, is broken or has missing parts.
Hearing and vision screenings will be provided by The Eye Center of Central PA.

ACLS recertification offered
WELLSBORO - A one-day recertification Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) class for registered nurses, physicians and paramedics will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital conference room.
The ACLS Provider Course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult ventricular fibrillation-ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) arrest.

Electronics bingo planned
The Bulldog Cancer Chompers Relay for Life Team will hold an electronics bingo on Feb. 10 at the Antes Fort Fire Hall. Doors open at noon and play begins at 1 p.m.
Advance tickets are $20 and tickets at the door are $25. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Prizes include iPad, iPad mini, 32-inch TV, Wii and many others.
