Fairfield Auto Group has long been a presence in the area and now is adding a new automobile dealership at 3600 W. Fourth St., to be known as Fairfield Ford of Williamsport.
Rick Quigley, new dealer/principal, said the purchase of Ford of Williamsport will allow the auto group to expand its presence.
"The Fairfield Auto Group continues to grow because of our commitment to customer service and satisfaction," Quigley said. "The majority of the current staff at Ford of Williamsport will remain in place with Thomas Barnes continuing in his role as sales manager. We expect a smooth transition."

Rick Quigley surveys the grounds of Fairfield Auto Group’s new dealership, Fairfield Ford. The new dealership is at 3600 W. Fourth St., and Quigley says the business expects to employ about 30 people.
The entire transition is expected to be made over the next few weeks.
On Friday, employees could be seen preparing for the move.
Quigley said Ford of Williamsport provided good service at the site.
He doesn't anticipate a lot of change.
"We'll have 30 people working here," he said.
The additional location will allow for an expanded inventory of automobiles.
Fairfield Auto Group will now have seven locations: Ford, Volkswagen, BMW at the Auto Mall, Montoursville; Ford in Williamsport; Toyota, Scion in Muncy; Hyundai, Equus in Muncy; Chevrolet-Cadillac in Lewisburg; and Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram in Muncy.
Established in 1986, Fairfield Auto Group employs more than 250 people and is reportedly the largest new and used car dealership in the area.
Quigley said the new location certainly will mean an increase of Fairfield's automobile inventory.
"We have both ends of the county here," he said. "It makes sense."
Overall, the automobile business has been good, Quigley added.
Nancy DeVitis, chief marketing officer, said Fairfield Auto Group is growing.
The additional automobile site provides more options for Fairfield and other customers.
"It's more convenient, depending on where you live," she said.
She noted that Fairfield Auto Group has long been part of the community.
"They do a lot to support the community," she said. "They support schools and football programs and local theater."
