WELLSBORO - Harold L. Bowman, 61, of Newmanstown, was charged by the state Game Commission with two counts of unlawful killing of big game after he and another man allegedly hunted deer when the season was closed.
According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard's office, Bowman was charged with killing two antlerless whitetail deer on Nov. 29 and Dec. 1 at a hunting camp at 29 Powderhorn Lane in Gaines.
The incident was reported by eye witnesses and officers obtained statements and evidence given by Bowman, plus physical evidence found in fields, forests and roadways of Gaines Township to file the charges.
Bowman was issued a summons to appear at a Jan. 29 preliminary hearing.
