Williamsport Sun-Gazette

MANSFIELD - Seth C. Rodriguez, 28, who already is incarcerated in the Tioga County Prison in connection with another case, has been charged by Tioga police with theft by deception for allegedly trying to pass two fake "gold" coins to partially pay for a purchase at a convenience market.

According to documents filed at District Judge James Carlson's office, Rodriguez falsely told the cashier at the Pump and Pantry Store on Main Street in Tioga that the coins were worth $20 each when he tried to use them to purchase fuel, a phone card, food and cigarettes totaling $59 on Oct. 11.

He was issued a summons for a Jan. 23 preliminary hearing.
