A Montoursville man died Sunday afternoon as a result of injuries he suffered when he was hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Broad Street in the borough on Friday evening.
According to authorities, Gary Shaffer, 65, of 944 Broad St., was attempting to walk north, across the 900 block of Broad Street, near the Blaise Alexander car dealership.
Shaffer was struck by an eastbound vehicle, allegedly driven by William Cohick, of Scott Township, according to Montoursville police.
Shaffer was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived on the scene, according to reports. He was taken by ambulance to the Williamsport Regional Airport, where he was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and placed into intensive care, according to police.
