Williamsport Sun-Gazette

MANSFIELD -The Mansfield University Student Chapter of the American String Teachers Association has been named "Outstanding Student Chapter" in the nation for 2013.

Members of the Mansfield chapter and faculty adviser Professor Kenneth Sarch will receive the award at the ASTA national convention being held Feb. 27 to March 2 in Providence, R.I.

"National recognition of the Mansfield University ASTA student chapter as outstanding chapter for 2013, out of all the student chapters in all the music schools in the country, confirms that our string students are among the finest, most ambitious and enterprising students found anywhere in the United States," Sarch said. "What our students have achieved brings national recognition to Mansfield University, confirms our commitment to leadership and is nothing short of amazing."

The MU Chapter was named "The Most Improved Student Chapter" in the nation by ASTA in 2011.
