MANSFIELD - Mansfield University Interim President Dr. Allan Golden will remain in his capacity a little bit longer.
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors voted Thursday to extend Golden's contract until Brigadier Gen. Francis Hendricks arrives on campus to assume the permanent position.
Hendricks, a 1979 Mansfield graduate, was named president Oct. 25 after an extensive nationwide search. His out-processing and retirement from the Air Force is taking longer than anticipated, an MU spokesperson said.
The contract extension is a formality that recognizes the support of Golden and eliminates the need for further renewals of his contract.
