Gun control?

December 27, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

This year we have had mass shootings in the United States of America. As citizens, we must work together to find why this is happening and to put an end to all the violence that has and is occurring. Can we blame guns, TV, games, or even God? Why is it that we feel they do not re-enact the scenes they have watched, or the games they played on the game devices? Could this be programming children at an early age on how to behave? When I was a child, we would go play cowboy and Indians, using play guns, etc. Wasn't that portraying a violent nature we saw in the movies, even though it was still play? Is it time to boycott TV show, and the games children play, letting them know that enough is enough?

Because of the murders, our government will want to have gun control. They already went too far recently in not allowing children to pray, or God's name be mentioned in schools or before government entities. Could this be a stepping-stone to government control? Although the Constitution grants us freedom of speech, religion, and the pursuit of happiness we must not over use these precious freedoms to the point of harming others. Our anger must not be so much that we allow the government to abolish the second amendment and take our guns away, nor to pray. No matter the age, we should be allowed to defend ourselves and say a prayer no matter where we may be. Let us forget about our small troubles and pray God will give the children's' families strength, courage, and to never lose their faith.
