Check It Out

Get Checked at the Brown Library

December 23, 2012
Williamsport Sun-Gazette

The James V. Brown Library has hosted successful summer reading programs in the past with more than 2,300 participants.

This year, we are trying something new with a winter reading program called Get Checked @ Your Library. Why limit reading to only the summer months - when winter is the ideal time to curl up with a good book?

Teaming up with the Williamsport Outlaws hockey team, children from babies to sixth grade can register for the reading program starting Jan. 2 through Jan. 11.

All youth who register will receive a free ticket to any Williamsport Outlaws hockey game.

The James V. Brown Library encourages all who are registered in the winter reading program to attend JVB Night at Airmen Pond at Bowman Field at 7:05 p.m. Jan. 12.

The Williamsport Outlaws will be playing the Dayton Demonz. Come join us and cheer on our local team.

The winter reading program will run for four weeks from Jan. 14 through Feb. 8. Completed reading logs can be turned in starting Feb. 8 through Feb. 15 for a final prize. Only a library card is required to participate in winter reading and your enthusiasm to read.

Stop by and visit the James V. Brown Library for more information on activities and events planned during this period.

The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends.
