Joshua Andrew Paulhamus, 17, of Linden, has earned Scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout.
Family, friends and members of Boy Scout Troop 115 gathered at Calvary Baptist Church, Jersey Shore, on Nov. 3, for an Eagle Court of Honor, where he was formally awarded the rank.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or chartered organization-related service project to earn his Eagle.
Paulhamus chose to reconstruct the fence, gates and sign at Stabler's Grove, a local picnic grove where each year church groups gather for meetings. This grove also is a place that families in the community use for reunions.
Paulhamus helped to resurrect Troop 115 of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore in 2006 along with his Scoutmaster, Jim Carson. He has held numerous leadership positions within his troop over the years including Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aide and Senior Patrol Leader.
Paulhamus became a member of Order of the Arrow, Scouting's national honor society, in 2008.
One of Paulhamus's highlights in Scouting was attending the 100-Year National Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill, Va., in 2010 where Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs," also an Eagle Scout, addressed the Scouts.
Paulhamus is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Jersey Shore, where he is active in the youth group and serves in various ministries.
A senior at Walnut Street Christian School in Avis, Paulhamus has been involved in the Honor Society, Student Council, drama and sports including basketball and soccer. He enjoys video production and has had the opportunity to make a variety of promotional videos for both his church and school.
He is the son of Rebecca and James Paulhamus, of Linden. His father, also an Eagle Scout, served as his assistant scoutmaster throughout his Scouting career.
