MANSFIELD - Southern Tioga School District board member Robert McConnell submitted a letter of resignation dated Dec. 11 and mailed to the district office, according to board President Ivan Erway.
Erway said the reasons given by McConnell were "I do not agree with the direction this board is going. I feel the majority of the board is not putting education and good use of finances first."
McConnell could not be reached for comment.
Erway said McConnell's term would have been up in November of 2015.
He was elected by one vote in the November 2011 general election.
All applicants are to submit applications to Penny Crowell, secretary to the superintendent Keith Yarger, for consideration.
Applications will be reviewed by Erway on Jan. 2 and potential replacements interviewed by the full board Jan. 7 in a public meeting, Erway said.
Yarger said no applications have been received for the open position and if none are received, Tioga County President Judge Robert E. Dalton Jr. will appoint someone.
