AVIS - Two high school students from Walnut Street Christian School, 201 W. Highland St., recently traveled to Harrisburg to participate in an All-State Choir seminar and concert.
The choir, sponsored by the Keystone Christian Education Association, was held Nov. 15 to 17.
The students were seniors Josephina Bair and Payton Mikitko.
Students in grades nine through 12 had to be screened and nominated by the local school administration and music faculty.
Subsequently, each nominated student auditioned for the Keystone organization.
About 140 students participated from schools across Pennsylvania and represented Christian schools from every geographic region of the state.
This year's guest conductor was a choir director veteran from 1999 and 2002, Richard Shelburne, minister of music at First Baptist Church of Land O' Lakes, Fla., since 1999.
The year guest accompanist was Dr. Craig Ralston, a long-time friend of Shelburne since they met at Bob Jones University.
The young people joined voices in singing 11 religious, classical and Christmas works.
Their final concerts were performed Nov. 17 in Harrisburg.
