Turndown of pay raises in Harrisburg should be copied

It was announced recently that many of the higher-ups in the Corbett administration won't be taking their salary increases in the coming year.

We appreciate their sentiment raises are out of place when the state is struggling to balance its financial books.

We would suggest the same approach should be applied in Washington, where the nation is $16 trillion in debt and elected officials of both parties can't compromise enough to start trimming the debt.
