Annie Dale Peterson

Annie Dale (Coull) Peterson, 90, of 1082 Clarence Fry Road, Montoursville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at her home. She was born July 12, 1922, in Oneonta, N.Y., the first of her generation born in America after her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Coull, immigrated from Scotland to the United States.

Annie was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville. She graduated from Williamsport High School, and then enrolled in the Williamsport School of Nursing, graduating in 1944. She served as an First Lieutenant in World War II serving in the Army in the Philippines, and after worked as a Registered Nurse for Divine Providence Hospital until her retirement. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 481; was a life member, and had served as Post Commander from 2003-2004 at Muffly - Huff V.F.W. Post 8206. She was also a life member of both the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323 in Watsontown, and the 40 et 8 in Milton.

On Dec. 22, 1966, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Peterson. She is also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Coull Jr. and by her companion of 40 years, John Gast.

Surviving are her children, George D. (Evelyn "Robbie" Irvin) Peterson, Elizabeth M. "Sis" (Denny) Springman, Gail J. (John) Meckley and Lillian M. (Russell) Brown; seven grandchildren, John Peterson, Whitney Wrobleski, Jason Springman, Brian Meckley, Shawn Meckley, Rebecca Warner and Rachel Brown; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. David B. Letscher officiating. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Muffly - Huff V.F.W. Post 8206 Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Lycoming SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
