Sharon M. Materne, 70, of Liverpool, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Sunnyside Care Center, East Syracuse, with her friends at her side.
Born June 11, 1942, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy Minier Moyer. She lived in the Syracuse area for the past 50 years and retired in 1994, as a Benefits Supervisor for 32 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Sharon then went on to be a Tax Preparer for H&R Block for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Quarter Century Club, a bowler and golfer in the Bristol leagues, an avid genealogist and loved spending fun times with her many, many friends.
Surviving are a son, Mark Materne of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Elaine (David) Waltz of Hughesville; and a stepmother, Alice Fuller of Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Ronald G. Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
