Garden club plans meeting
The Montoursville Garden Club will hold its next meeting at 3 p.m. today at the Peter Herdic House, 407 W. Fourth St.
The meeting will be a traditional festive Christmas tea.
The tea will be followed by guided tours of the Rowley House Museum, Millionaire's Row and the beautiful Williamsport Christmas lights as we travel about town on the Herdic Trolley.
Co-chairs for the event are Barbara Gallagher and Pamela Bentley; committee members are Linda Bowersox and Nancy Springman.
Albright LIFE to hold dessert competition
Albright LIFE, the area's only Adult Day Health Center, will host the Top Dessert Chef Competition event from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday to benefit the Lycoming County United Way.
Culinary experts from local nursing care and senior living facilities will bring their signature deserts to the LIFE center, 901 Memorial Avenue.
For a donation, attendees can sample all of the desserts and vote on who has earned the right to be called the area's "Top Dessert Chef."
New to the Top Dessert Chef competition this year will be a separate contest for best diabetic-friendly desserts.
Albright LIFE also will raffle off themed baskets during the event, with all proceeds going to the United Way.

Women's brunch set for holidays
The Christian Women's Club of Williamsport will host a "Holiday Happenings Brunch" at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Community Baptist Church, 1853 Route 87 North, Montoursville. Music will be by harpist, Wendy McCormick, and Joanne Benjamin will present, "Weathering the Storms of Life with a Broken Umbrella."

Canton library to hold club
CANTON - The next free movie of the Canton Green Free Library's Kids Movie Club will be "Arthur Christmas," presented at 2 p.m. Friday.
The club is co-sponsored by the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Canton Green Free Library.
The club will meet during the 2012-13 school year on days that school is closed for a holiday or because there is an in-service day.
Future dates and movies will be announced.
Membership is free.
The movies shown will be rated G and PG, so children of all ages can participate.
No reservations are required. Movie snacks will be provided.
