Daniel Weinfeld, author of "The Jackson County War: Reconstruction and Resistance in Post-Civil War Florida," will talk at the Lycoming County Historical Society's history coffee hour at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 in the community room of the Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St.
"The Jackson County War" focuses on the role of the Freedmen's Bureau, the emergence of white regulators and the development of African-American political consciousness and leadership. The book highlights two men from this area - Charles Memorial Hamilton and William James Purman - who served on the Freedmen's Bureau.
The program is free and open to the public.
