Dear Santa:
I just had an incredible time with the dear folks at the nursing home this afternoon.
The Alzheimer unit always is my favorite. Bessie was really funny as she thought the tambourine was a hat and put it on top of her head for us to admire.
A lot of people are scared and nervous to visit those folks but you just have to understand that their mannerisms or the things they say are just a little odd or different than what we are normally used to.
Those folks may forget a lot of things but they sure do remember all the words to the old hymns.
What a blessing!
And they always are so appreciative that we were there. I just feel so bad for those who can't even get out of bed to join us in the activity room. I sure was thankful for my volunteers who came along to go room to room and leave gifts and words of encouragement. Can't wait until our next visit!
Your friend,
Captain Debbie
