Wilbur C. Jackson

Wilbur C. Jackson, 83, of Jersey Shore, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

He was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Cedar Springs, Pa., a son of George F. and Annie (Rhine) Jackson.

Wilbur was the husband of the former Frances E. Reeder, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran and served in Japan with the 34th Infantry Regiment.

Prior to owning and operating a Sunoco gas station and NAPA Auto parts in Jersey Shore, he had worked at Piper Aircraft.

He liked spending time with his family and enjoyed gardening and working around the house.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons, Steven D. (Diane) Jackson of Williamsport, Dennis L. Jackson of Jersey Shore; two daughters, Wanda K. (Alan) Buck of Brookside and Suzanne R. (Rev. Richard) Waters of Williamsport; a brother, Orvis R. "Jack" Jackson of Flemington; two sisters, Betty V. Farwell of Woolrich and Ruth Yeager of Tamaqua; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Wilbur was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels, 1301 Clayton Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Relatives and friends are invited to Wilbur's Life Celebration service noon Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Rev. Kenneth Lynn officiating. A visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mackeyville.
