GALETON - Larry's Sport Center has expanded its annual big buck contest to include bear entries this year. The free contest, which began in 1993, marks its 20th anniversary with the new name, "Larry's Big Game Contest."
It is open to all archery and rifle hunters in Pennsylvania and New York. Anyone younger than 18 must enter their buck or bear in a parent's name to be eligible to win. Advance registration is recommended but not required.
Animals must be taken to Larry's Sport Center, 1913 Route 6 West, for point verification. Bucks will receive one entry for each point on the rack; bears will receive one entry for every 25 pounds in weight. Weights will be verified using tickets from a bear-weigh station.
The winner will be drawn at 3 p.m. Dec. 15 and need not be present to win.
Entries will be allowed until 2 p.m. Dec. 15.
The grand prize is a 2012 Yamaha 350 4X4 Grizzly, Second prize is a free head mount donated by Endless Mountains Taxidermy, of Galeton.
