A recent letter criticized a Montoursville resident for placing a political sign in his yard that read "2012- America versus Obama". I believe I am the resident as I did place such a sign in my yard weeks before the election.
The writer misinterpreted the sign's message, claiming it means "Americans should hate our country's president". He states he "can't find the right words to express my shame for the people who would do that".
He was also unable to find the right word to substitute for "versus" as he used the word "hate".
I do not hate Barack Obama nor would I ever suggest that anyone else should. I do, however, vehemently disagree with and oppose the catastrophic path to Socialism and government dependence that I believe Obama is leading us on.
I respect the writer's opinion along with his right to publicly express it despite having found his misguided letter to be not only offensive but also stupid and shameful.
