My 11-year-old granddaughter, Hannah Freezer, was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 9. The ongoing treatments, side affects and setbacks cause her pain, sickness and frustration. Watching her endure so much causes heartache, tears and worry for all those who love her.
From the beginning, Hannah repeatedly expressed a desire to visit Disney World. Ann Pepperman, knowing of Hannah's wish, submitted her name to the Brotherhood Alliance of Lycoming County.
Not long after, my daughter received a call from Bob McManigal, a representative of the organization. He explained the Brotherhood Alliance has a program known as "Making Dreams Come True". The program makes sure children like Hannah realize their dreams. That they did! Not only did the Alliance provide everything at no cost to Hannah and her family, they made arrangements for my husband and me to make the trip with them.
For months, Mr. McManigal worked tirelessly to attend to every detail.
Our trip included tickets to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios, Epcot and Sea World. The parks brought new adventures each day. When we returned to the village we enjoyed the pool, spray ground, miniature golf, good food and a never ending supply of ice cream. What a week it was!
To the Brotherhood Alliance of Lycoming County, Bob McManigal, Ann Pepperman, Give Kids the World Village, Disney World, World Travel Agency and all those who made this special trip possible, we say thank you for the gift of a magical family vacation, thank you for making Hannah's dream come true and thanks for the memories of such a happy time for our family!
