South Williamsport and Loyalsock Township are planning events on Dec. 1 to light trees, welcome Santa and start the holiday season in style.

Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 will have a parade at 3:30 p.m., starting at Loyalsock Township High School, 1801 Loyalsock Drive. The parade will end at James E. Short Park on Northway Road, where a celebration and lighting of the park will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The park event will feature live Christmas music, free horse-drawn wagons, Santa, Frosty and Rudolph.

In South Williamsport, a tree-lighting ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at the borough office, 329 W. Southern Ave.

Santa will arrive at 6:30 p.m.
