PENNSDALE In two separate complaints, a Northumberland County man has been charged with allegedly stealing merchandise from stores at Lycoming Cross and Lycoming Mall, according to Muncy Township police.
In one complaint, Randy Lee Rider Jr., 24, formerly of New Columbia but now living at 1235 Showers Road, Delaware Township, is accused of stealing $3,100 worth of DVDs from Target and then selling as many as 24 of them to the FYE store at the mall on Oct. 24.
When an officer spotted him driving a vehicle near the mall shortly after the theft and attempted to stop him, Rider refused to pull over and fled.
Rider's vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Delaware Township.
Sixty-four stolen DVDs were recovered from the car, police said.
In the second complaint, Rider is accused of walking into Sears at the mall and obtaining gifts cards three times in exchange for merchandise he simply took off the shelves early last month, police said.
Following his arraignment late Saturday afternoon before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of felony shoplifting, four counts of theft by deception, three counts of receiving stolen property and one count each of fleeing police and conspiracy,
Rider was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
