The Lycoming College theater department has announced public auditions for "The Vagina Monologues" by Eve Ensler, a play that celebrates the joy and pain of being female. Adult women of all ages are invited to audition.
Open auditions will be held between 7 and 10 p.m. Nov. 18, in the Mary L. Welch Theatre on the campus of Lycoming College. Individuals can reserve a specific 5-minute time slot by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. A prepared (not necessarily memorized), two-minute monologue is required. The monologue can be excerpted from plays, movies, novels or any published source. Auditioners should arrive earlier than the designated time to complete an audition form. Callbacks will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 19, also in the Welch Theatre. Excerpts from the play will be read at callbacks.
Performance dates for "The Vagina Monologues" are Feb. 13 to 16. One read-through will be slated for late November and then rehearsals begin in mid-January.
