Full Spectrum Pro comes clean

The name Full Spectrum Pro refers to a cleaning company that does everything for commercial cleaning - floor stripping, waxing, carpet cleaning and clean outs.

"We cover it all," Chris Silvagni, company president and CEO, said. "It's full spectrum. Your image reflects on us."

That also includes house cleaning when people move in and out of a building. It takes two to three days, but "people are very happy with that," Silvagni said.

The only aspect of cleaning the company won't do is residential.

The business began about seven years ago as a franchise of System4 Commercial Cleaning.

Silvagni learned how to be a successful business owner from his father, who owned F and A Silvagni Appliance Store.

Silvagni wanted to have his own business so that he would be able to work hours that allowed him to still spend time with his family.

His hours fluctuate depending on companies' preferences. He can start anywhere from 3 to 7 p.m. Sometimes he will work 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Some companies call him to clean once a month, while others want five days a week.

When companies have special events, they want the business to be especially clean. With the holidays around the corner, Silvagni has been especially busy helping businesses prepare.

Over those seven years, Silvagni slowly has been growing the business at a "comfortable" pace so he can keep up with demands.

He currently has about 16 to 17 accounts and "they're all happy accounts," he said.

Part of the reason for his success has been his 15 hours of training in cleaning, which taught him proper chemical techniques and how to strip a floor.

For some people, their first thought when it comes to cleaning is just grabbing a bottle of Windex and spraying.

"There's a process to cleaning," Silvagni said.

Another reason he has been successful is the economy. When companies around the country are tightening their budgets, contracting out the cleaning means a cleaning person does not have to stay on payroll.

"There always will be a need (for someone to clean)," Silvagni said. "That's one thing people don't want to bother with is cleaning."

In the future, he wants to continue to grow his business at a steady pace. He also wants to take his business online by having a website ready sometime next year.
