It's possible to go to the Center for Body Balance to experience a soothing massage given by one of the licensed massage therapists.
But there's much more to the Center for Body Balance located at 1012 Washington Blvd., Williamsport.
Staffed by professionals trained in various disciplines, it is a place for healing.

"We have four licensed massage therapists," said Beth Shafranko, herself a licensed therapist. "We also have an occupational therapist who specializes in lymp drainage and cranio sacral therapy.
Lucy Heggenstaller is one of (two) licensed clinical social workers there.
"Social workers do a lot of therapy," she said. "A lot of physical ailments have a psychological dimension."

People come to the Center for Body Balance for any number of reasons, ranging from emotional problems to physical ailments.
"We are holistic," said Shafranko.
Ann House is an occupational therapist who works with people of all ages, including infants.
Among her specialties is brain therapy. She also does lymp drainage and cranio sacral therapy.
Marcia Fineman is a licensed clinical social worker who does family and individual counseling. She helps people with any numbers of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and post traumatic stress disorder.
Why do people come to the Center for Body Balance?
It really depends on what ails you.
Shafranko said many come as referrals, but still others learn about Center for Body Balance through word of mouth.
"Therapists at the Center for Body Balance hope to make our services a holisitic approach to their clients' health," she explained.
Everyone who performs some type of healing there is licensed for their specialty.
Center for Body Balance began as a massage therapy site, but has evolved into what it is today.
It actually was launched under that name back in January.
"We were looking for more than just doing a massage," Shafranko said.
Shafranko, who specializes in cranio sacral therapy, makes use of various techniques to help people with chronic pain and headaches.
She said the therapy helped her heal from her own medical problems.
Each of the therapists can collaborate to help better serve clients.
"There's a lot of talking with people before we put hands on them," she said.
