Loyalsock club holds meetings

The Loyalsock Garden Club met Sept. 17 and held an auction, conducted by Dottie White, with proceeds going toward the club's treasury.

Each member was asked to supply an unwrapped treasure that was auctioned off.

The hostesses for that event were Alice Frye, chairwoman, with Dorothy Lakotas, co-chair. The committee was Deb Taylor and Laurie Ade.

On Oct. 15, the club met at 7 p.m. at Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church.

The program for the evening was presented by Keith Phelps, of Country Farm and Home. He auctioned off his creative fall flower arrangements.

Hostesses for the event were Karen Pile and Marie Ayers, co-chairwomen, with the committee of Martha Callahan, Fran Crossley and Sue Wright.

Muncy Garden Club to meet

MUNCY - The Muncy Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. James Parish Hall, 215 S. Main St.

Hostesses will be Josette Betzer and Paula Schwenk, with devotions given by Paula Schwenk.

Anyone interested in joining the Muncy Garden Club is encouraged to attend.

Republican women to meet Oct. 22

The Williamsport-Lycoming County Council of Republican Women will meet at noon Monday at the Genetti Hotel.

The program will be presented by Kristina Currie, from Common wealthfoundation.org, a non-political group that provides information regarding the cost of health care and other government programs.

Reservations are required and may be made by calling Miriam Miller at 971-9058 by Thursday. There is a fee for the luncheon.

Fall festival to be held in October

JERSEY SHORE _ LaBella Vallee Lodge, No. 232 F. & A.M. will sponsor its first fall festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Temple, 201 S. Main St., and the South Main Street gazebo.

Activities include a pig roast, food and refreshments, craft booths, live entertainment, vendors, games and more.

Shady Brook to hold auction

BEAVERTOWN - Shady Brook Campground will host a Chinese auction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Beavertown Fire Co., 222 Sassafras St.

The public is invited to participate and all proceeds will be donated to the Lycoming County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

To donate new items or for more information, call David Mull at the campground at 837-9773.

'Pink' Zumbathonset Sunday in area

GALETON - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Galeton Women of the Moose will hold a "Party in Pink Zumbathon" and women's expo from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Galeton High School.

The event features five hours of Zumba with some of the best Zumba instructors in the area. StacyKay Lanzo, an instructor in both Galeton and Elkland, will be joined by three other certified instructors.

While taking a break from the music and dancing, participants can browse the many vendors, who will be displaying products and information to make a woman's life more fulfilling. A Chinese auction also will be held.

Women's club plans luncheon

MILL HALL - The theme for the Oct. 24 luncheon of the Lock Haven Christian Women's Club is "A Three Course Luncheon."

The luncheon begins at noon at Aungst's Banquet Facility.

The feature for the day, "A Blend of Ideas," will be a demonstration by Pampered Chef consultant Esther Force. "Whipping Up a Melody" is what musical guest and soloist Beth Young will do.

Bringing "Tidbits of Wisdom" is guest speaker Judy Inman from Erie. She asks the question, "Who's got the controllers?"
