Kudos to the Oval artist for creating an amazing piece of art work that is now part of the River Walk.
It is stunning and shows the talents of our area. Shame, however, on the art committee for taking such a great piece of work and hiding it away where only a very limited number of people will see it. I walk on the River Walk and everyone, often the same groupe of walkers, are either in a hurry, or admiring the beautiful view of the mountains...plus why put such a great piece of work on something called a flood wall and in a location where very limited and repeat traffic will see it and even less traffic come winter?
Imagine how striking this great sculpture would look if it were downtown where thousands of people would see it each day. People coming to the city or passing through would see how mush we love art. This would have looked amazing in front of Wegmans where all the tour buses would see it or placed downtown, like in that small part on Market and 4th or even in one of the round-abouts on Via Bella.
Sad. It's like buying a great painting and placing it in your basement so only the plumber or furnace guy will see it instead of putting it upstairs where there is a lot of traffic. I hope if the committee adds more art they will place it in a location where it can be seen by all everyday and not just the same old few.
