LAPS?accepting items for yard sale
The Lycoming Animal Protection Society will hold its fall yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 at First Ward Fire Co., 573 Hastings St., South Williamsport.
LAPS volunteers are accepting donations of items to sell at the shelter, 195 Phillips Park Drive, South Williamsport, through Oct. 18.
The organization is not accepting clothing of any kind, stuffed animals, computer-related items, along with large TV's of the old variety that need the adapters to get all channels or large exercise equipment.
All items should be clean and in working condition.
Machinery group to host exhibit
LEWISBURG - Buffalo Valley Antique Machinery Association's 27th autumn exhibit will be held Friday through Sunday at 8030 West Branch Highway.
The event opens at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday and will feature displays, a flea market, crafts and food. Tractor pulls begin at 6 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, the Gospel Strings will perform at noon and tractor pulls being at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, church service begins at 8 a.m. and tractor pulls begin at noon.
Historical societyplans dairy program
MONTGOMERY - The Montgomery Area Historical Society will provide a program about the Montgomery Borough dairies at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Grange 1, Clinton Township.
Lanny Wertz will give the program.
The organization will open its new museum, "The Adam Room," to the public on the first and third Sundays of each month from 1 to 3 p.m.
The museum is in the basement of the Montgomery Area Public Library at the former Adam Print Shop.
Garden club to meet in area
JERSEY SHORE - The Jersey Shore Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at First United Methodist Church, 236 S. Main St.
The program will be holiday arrangements and presented by two club members, Molly Hollick and Barb Hall.
Hostesses for the evening are Diane Wolfe, Pauline Hoxie and Lois Kline.
New members are welcome.

Women's club to hold brunch
The Williamsport Christian Women's Club will host its annual country fare brunch from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 25 at Community Baptist Church, 1853 Route 87 N., Montoursville.
The program presented will be "Who Has the Controller?" focusing on adoption, alcoholism, death and disaster. There will be a fee for the program.

Brodart to hold fall book sale
Tartan, a division of Brodart Co., 500 Arch St., will hold its fall community sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20.
The sale will include hardcover books, cookbooks, large print works, teen reads and audiobooks, as well as DVDs and audio Playaways, previously circulated in public libraries.
Tartan's previous sale, held in June, saw hundreds of shoppers take advantage of the low prices.
The sale will be held inside Brodart's building in the Newberry section of Williamsport.
Shoppers can enter the building via the parking lot along Third Street, where signs will be visible with directions to the sale entrance.
