Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Meek, South Williamsport, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 11, 2012.
They were married by the Rev. John Frehn in South Williamsport.
They are members of South Williamsport United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Meek, the former Jeanne Louise Schooley, is a native of Williamsport. She is the daughter of the late Beatrice Amenda and Kenneth Elwood Schooley. She graduated from South Williamsport Area High School in 1947. She retired in June 1970 from Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Meek, a native of Bellefonte, is the son of the late Hester and Lester Meek. He graduated from South Williamsport Area High School in 1946 and attended Thompson Business College, Harrisburg, from September 1953 to June 1955. He is a Korean War veteran and served in the Army Signal Corps for three years. He retired in December 1980 from State Correction Institution, Muncy, as business manager, and again in November 2004 from White Deer Run Treatment Center, Allenwood, in the transportation department.
They are the parents of two sons, Edward A., Julian, and James R., DuBoistown.
In honor of their anniversary, a family dinner, hosted by their sons at the Wheel Inn, Roaring Branch, is planned for Oct. 11.
