LEWISBURG - Tom Greaves will discuss "The Lewisburg Architecture Project," at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Smith Library at Bucknell University.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of the university's series, "Stories of the Susquehanna Valley," hosted by the Nature and Human Communities Initiative of the Bucknell University Environmental Center.
Professor emeritus of sociology and anthropology, Greaves will discuss the project, which ran from 2005 through 2008, to assemble a complete photographic inventory of the structures within Lewisburg's Historic District.
The intent of the project was to fill a gap. Although three fairly extensive collections of photographs of the borough's buildings existed, nowhere was there a complete photographic inventory of the Historic District.
The database also was envisioned as an active community resource supporting Lewisburg's affection for its architectural heritage and could become the locus for a citizen-driven locus of the community's history.
