PENNSDALE - Penny Haren, nationally renowned quilter and author of quilting technique books, will present a workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road.
Haren has been developing and teaching appliques techniques that make it quick, easy and fun for quilters, including beginners, to create intricate blocks with stunning results. Her book, "Pieced Applique," eliminates inset points and curves from even the most complicated blocks.
There is a fee for members and lunch will be available. Attendees will need Haren's book, "Pieced Applique" and a kit for $12 from the author at the time of the workshop. For more information, about this workshop, call 924-4223.
Haren also will speak at a meeting at 7 p.m. Friday. This is a change from the regular Thursday night meeting. The public is invited to the lecture with a fee for non-members.
Members should bring their "BOMs" for September.
The teaching guild is open to new members and guests. For more information, visit www.susqvalleyquilters.org or call 547-1940.
