MANSFIELD - "The Next Frontier in Ocean Conservation" will be the topic of a presentation by Scott Nichols, director of bio-based materials at DuPont and director of Verlasso, a groundbreaking and unique salmon farming company, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mansfield University's Retan Center, Room G-1.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
Nichols will discuss the path to be taken to ensure the future of the world's oceans and provide sustainable seafood for a growing population.
A graduate of Wharton's Advanced Management Program with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, Nichols draws on his education to develop new biologically based business ventures.
He has worked extensively on biodiversity projects in Africa and South America, which has given him a deep appreciation for developing comprehensive approaches to sustainable food production.
Nichols also has a passion for food and cooking.
Nichols is coming to MU as a guest Aaron McNevin, director of the Fisheries program. The presentation is sponsored by the Biology Department.
