Society to hold historical days
FORT ANTES - The Fort Entes Historical Days will be held Sept. 13, 14 and 15. There will be a fireworks display Friday evening. This year also will feature children activities, and a chili cook-off.
Church fall festival to benefit children
The McElhattan United Methodist Church Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15.
The festival will benefit two local children, Trinity Gill, a 12-year-old girl who has glaucoma in both eyes and must make frequent trips to Philadelphia for treatment, and Grey Don Tressler, a 3-year-old boy suffering with Leukemia.
The festival takes place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be live entertainment throughout the day, chicken barbecue and other food.
There will be crafts, games and vendors.
Guests should bring a lawn chair and enjoy all the festivities, which includes barrel train rides, dunk tank and a hayride at 5 p.m.
Quilt guild to hold next meeting
WELLSBORO - The September meeting of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Gmeiner Arts and Cultural Center, 134 Main St.
After a business meeting and a Show and Tell of members' recent quilt projects, Sue Knapp, from O' Susannah's Quilt Shop in Watkins Glen, N.Y., will present a program on the latest quilt trends and share information about specialty items from her shop.
She will have quilt related items for sale after the program.
September also is the quilt exhibit at the Gmeiner, featuring 100 quilt projects submitted by members for display.
All meetings are free and open to the public. Quilters of all abilities are invited to join the guild at any time.

Herb guild to hold meeting
The Williamsport Herb Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Covenant-Central Presbyterian Church, 807 W. Fourth St.
Gayle Miller, raw food and life coach from Lock Haven, will speak about and demonstrate raw food delights.
The meeting is open to the public.
