'Bark For Life' planned Saturday in Mansfield
MANSFIELD - The third annual Bark For Life, will be held on Sept. 8 at Smythe Park.
This year, the event will be in memory of Mitchel, a participant in the first and second events and who recently lost his battle with cancer.
The American Cancer Society's Bark For Life is a fundraising event that honors the caregiving qualities of canine "best friends."
Registration will be from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be a canine walk, vendors, food and activities.
There is a registration fee, and forms are available at First Citizens Community Banks in Mansfield, Wellsboro, Blossburg and Millerton. This includes the Weis and Walmart Stores Inc. branches.
All donations and registration fees will be donated to the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer.

Historical society to launch fall program
MUNCY - The Muncy Historical Society will launch the fall schedule at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Muncy Historical Society, 40 N. Main St.
Bush and Barbie James will present a brief history of the CSS Hunley, a submarine of the Confederate States of America and the first to sink an enemy ship during the Civil War. They also will share their filming of the funeral taken when the remains of the crew were laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, S.C.
The society's meeting and events are open to the public. Museum tours are at 1:30 p.m. on meeting days and light refreshments are served immediately after the program in the colonial kitchen.
Breast cancer walk set
Since 1993, the American Cancer Society has been raising funds and rallying communities to save lives from breast cancer through the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
This is the only cancer society event that raises funds to fight a specific type of cancer.
This year's 5K walk will be held at 9 a.m. Oct. 20 at Indian Park, Montoursville. This is the third year for the walk in Lycoming County and the 20th year nationwide.
